Being unable to conduct any tours this year because of the restrictions of Covid 19 Johnny Rickett wrote a book during lockdown. The title is ‘More than a Conflict – a personal memoir‘ and it describes the Welsh Guards’ antics during the Falklands War in 1982 when he was their Commanding Officer.
The book tells the story of their move south on the luxury liner, the QE 2, the Landings on the Falkland Islands, their subsequent move forward to the front line and the disasters which befell them both before the final battles to capture Port Stanley and after the conflict was over. It is a moving account which brings into the open what they had to endure.
The book has been self published by the author primarily for his regiment, his family and his friends.
